These difficulties are a sample of the reason that I recommend AGAINST Outlook for Mac as a productivity solution. Microsoft offers (rather complicated) directions for syncing Outlook for Mac with iPhone. Note that this post refers to syncing Outlook for WINDOWS (all versions, as far as I can tell) with your iPhone. I will do my best to keep this post updated as technology changes.
